Notes for Monday

Another Little Library find!
"Set during Calgary's heady days as host of the 1988 Winter Olympics, Barb Howard's "Notes for Monday" has the feel of a time capsule. So does her portrayal of irascible corporate lawyer, Tommy McBeath. She nails him.
You won't sympathize with him, or dispose him, but you won't forget him!"
-John Ballem QC., author of "A Victim of Convenience"
TO THE FINDER:
Thank you for catching this book and coming here to see its journal!
To me, it’s important to be sure this book is in (your!) good hands. Please, let me know that you’ve found it. I’m also interested to know what you thought of it. That’s why I ask you to re-visit the site and make another journal entry sharing your thoughts and maybe telling what kind of plans you have for it.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
I am going to plant myself on the couch and read this little book so that I can release it to the group at tomorrow's meetup!
A wonderful quick read! I really enjoyed the character of Tommy McNeath, a Calgary lawyer who has to write a five minute speech for his retirement luncheon on Monday. He is such an ass but an endearing old ass. Humorous and touching. I don't usually write notes in a book I am reading, but something touched my heart and made me cry.
I hope that you enjoy this gem as much as I have!

Picked up at the July meet-up of Calgary BookCrossers. Can't wait to read this little book by a local author!
What a beautiful little novella! I love how one of the reviewers said that it had the feel of a time capsule. Set in Calgary during the 1988 Winter Olympics, it brought up so many memories and was laugh-out-loud hilarious!
Great first sentence: God it feels good to be bitter.
I want to keep it forever and lend it out to special friends and drink wine and remember all the funny bits. But, in the spirit of BookCrossing, I must relinquish it to find new readers.

Looking forward to reading this. It looks like the perfect short funny book to get me out of my reading slump.

This was a funny novella. The guy is just so surly you can't help but like him.
And it has such a touching ending also. Thanks Herchelle!

Safely in my hands
I liked this book and agree with all the other bookcrossers. We moved to Calgary, the June after the olympics so weren't here during that time but loved the trip down memory lane as I remember it!
Tommy seems so familiar to me but couldn't place whom he might be.....

Picked up at get together
Short & quick. I wasn't sure what to expect, considering how bitter the main character was and the bitter end to his career in his law firm. But it still captured his life, and I thought had the perfect ending when he decided to follow his wife's example and just peace out.
Thanks for the fun read.
