The Fortune of War
3 journalers for this copy...
This time it's the War of 1812 that gets in the way of Captain Jack Aubery's plans. Caught en route to England in a dispatch vessel, Aubrey and Maturin are soon in the thick of a typically bloody naval engagement. Next stop: an American prison, from which only Maturin's cunning allows them to engineer an exit.
Part 6 of the Aubrey-Maturin series and there are more:
1 Master & Commander
2 Post Captain
3 H.M.S. Surprise
4 The Mauritius Command
5 Desolation Island
6 The Fortune of War
7 The Surgeon's Mate
8 The Ionian Mission
9 Treason's Harbour
10 The far side of the world

Arrived here yesterday, thanks a lot! Might take me some more time to read it, though. Some other BookRings came in first.
Looking forward to reading them all nevertheless!
Update, February 28th 2014: First things first: Sorry that it took so long this time!
Nevertheless I enjoyed it thoroughly, both "The Fortune of War" and "The Surgeon's Mate". (I am very much inclined to consider them to be one story told in two books.) It was particularly nice to follow Captain Jack Aubrey on a mission in the Baltic Sea for once!
Next: "The Ionian Mission". (Might take some more time. Again: Sorry.)

Besten Dank...liegt nun hier vor Anker.
Quite another kind of Aubrey and Maturin this time. Especially the second half left me breathless in order to find out about Stephen's love to Villiers and about his spying details. The fighting on the sea still remains strange for me, for example all the work of preparing the ship. Fascinating.
