I am looking forward to reading this - thank you so much for the tag, HI77!
Just the right thing for a summer's read - our garden is blooming and I am looking forward to bacon and tomato sandwiches with my own homegrown tomatoes. Aaah, summer.

Sweet story of Imo Lavender, an older Southern lady raising 2 girls that she's taken in, Jeanette and Lou. This novel in some ways has the pace of the No 1 Ladies Detective series - there's not a large amount of action, it's more evocative of a place and the interaction among the main characters. Imo loses her husband of 48 years and eventually decides, with the help of her friends, that she might like some male companionship in her life. She dates several men and deals with the raising of her 2 girls. I love the title - referred to in the story as the only things that money cannot buy. Sweet as Southern tea.

Arrived safely in NJ! Thank you so much for tagging me with this interesting read. I think I'm gonna like it...I can't wait to dive in...much like a BLT. ;)
I was so happy to read such a well written little story. Like Bkind2books indicated, its not a high action book but sometimes that is exactly what you need to read. I loved Imo and enjoyed reading about her, her life and her girls. I must admit to growing my first tomato plant this year and got a couple of tips from this book for next year.

Thank you so much. I love seeing the history of places a book has been. This looks good and I look forward to reading it.
Nice story of life and how gardening can bring us back to where we need to be. On it's way to etherea as a wishlist tag.
Enjoy
I was intrigued by the title of this book. In fact, one of my favorite songs (by Guy Clark) is titled Homegrown Tomatoes and has these lines
"Homegrown tomatoes, homegrown tomatoes
What'd life be without homegrown tomatoes
Only two things that money can't buy
And that's true love and homegrown tomatoes."
Thanks for the wishlist tag!
