I have read this twice, I love the vivid description of the slums, and the tale of the boy with the extraordinary sense of smell. I would have thought this fantasy but have seen a TV programme with stories of people with senses far more acute then most mortals.

I don't know how this came to be on my Wishlist, but this read wasn't for me.
Didn't enjoy or was engaged in any real part of it.
The plus side was having somewhere nice to read it!

Thank you for this book. I can't say when exactly it arrived because we were away from home all of last week. Its delivery may have been delayed by the postal workers' strike in Germany.
I believe I read the original German version some years ago, and I remember that I watched the film. I'll probably take the book with me on my next trip to Canada.
