I haven't read the book yet but I have been reading Dave Barry for a while and he's one of the very last satirists. He's very witty, imaginative and more importantly, hilarious.

OKay, finished reading it and all of the articles are great. However, I think that there are about 12 flawless, hilarious efforts. All the rest are well-thought out, but some of the jokes get repetetive (ie, IQ of bait/mayonnaise/etc.) But then there are a lot of awesome ones. I marked the best articles at the table of contents that you absolutely must read. Have fun for whoever reads this.

Parts of it I thought were quite hilarious, whereas others were a bit (for lack of a better phrase) beyond me. His jokes are geared toward someone about 10 years older than me, preferably someone who actually lived through the 80's rather than being born right at the end of the decade.
I got this book through (ready for this...) my boyfriend's roommate's friend from college. We were all hanging out at a cafe and he and I started talking about books we like. I mentioned Bill Bryson's 'I'm a Stranger Here Myself' (which I HIGHLY recommend) and he said it sounded a bit like this book that he had just got through a friend and would I like to read it.
I think I might leave it in a coffee shop for someone to find. I know that would make my day.
