The Sherbrooke Bride

This is a light romance. It's mildly entertaining, in the way most of Coulter's works are. If you enjoy her other writing, my guess is you'll enjoy this one as well.
Good summer, beach reading material. Not a lot of substance but good fun.

Book description
Douglas Sherbrooke, Earl of Northcliffe, is a man besieged. He must have an heir. Thus he must first provide himself with the requisite bride.
Alexandra Chambers, youngest daughter of the Duke of Beresford, has loved Douglas Sherbrooke since she was fifteen. Unfortunately, it is her sister, the incomparable Melissande, he wishes to wed.
But life never ladles out what one expects, and Douglas finds himself wed to the wrong sister. If having an unwanted wife isn't enough, he is also plauged by The Virgin Bride, a ghost that is reputedly seen in the countess's bedchamber. Does the willowy phantom really appear to Douglas? Does she speak to him?

After eating a pre-theatre dinner, I found a table displaying various books. I had recently read the FBI Serries by this author so I opted to try a sample of her period novels. Luckily this was the first of a particular ongoing sagas. I found it enjoyable, however, I do prefer the thrillers.

I just really don't care for romance type novels. It is just basically the same story in all of the novels. The male is always a cad and the woman is a sweet young virgin that will turn him into a gentleman. Basically boring. There are too many other good books to read than to waste your time on this.
