A Cotswold Killing (Cotswolds Mystery 1)
4 journalers for this copy...
Nestled in the fertile hills of the Cotswolds, the village of Duntisbourne Abbots is a well-kept secret: beautiful, timeless and quintessentially English. When recently widowed Thea Osborne arrives to house-sit for a local couple, her only fear is that three weeks there might prove a little dull. Her first night s sleep at Brook View is broken by a piercing scream outside but she decides such things don t require investigation in a sleepy place like this. At least not until a body turns up... In calling on her neighbors to get some answers, Thea uncovers more tragedy and intrigue than she thought possible behind the peaceful Gloucestershire village. The first in a new series of thrillers to be set in the Cotswold area, A Cotswold Killing takes the reader on a tense journey along winding roads and muddy paths towards a dramatic and unexpected denouement.

I liked the story, the English countryside, the idea of housesittting. But some things irritated me, somehow, can't really point my finger to them, but something.. Anyway, I'd like to read more books in this series.
And I know next reader will be upset about the lack of water at the doggie's drinking bowls and some other dog-related stuff! Try to bear with it :D
Sending to Kirjakko next!

Thanks. I might be off murders for a while. There has been a cruel murder of a 42-year-old horse-keeper a few days ago. She was my ex-workmate and a really kind person who lived a very simple life looking after injured horses. She was murdered by a man known to the police, but who didn't know her, apparently a random victim. It hasn't been said yet, but my bet is that he was a gipsy. The house used to belong to gipsies years ago and some still drove to the yard looking for their friends or enemies. This really feels awful as she was somebody who would always help if she could and was in the process of selling the place due to chronic lack of money - she charged way too little for taking care of those horses.
