This book has just arrived, it seems to have been lost for a while in the mail, but arrived safely. I also loved the WWF tiger stamp in the envelope. Thank you, Winterbirth, I will read it as soon as possible and then get back with my comments.
What a beautifully written book - I loved it from the beginning, with all the descriptions that transport us to that place and time. The story is good and gripping, but what I really liked was the writing. It reminded me in some way of Ondaatje's The English Patient and Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited. Thank you so much for sharing, Winterbirth.
The book is now available for new readers.

This book is on its way to the south, to my Christmas secret friend. I browsed through her bookshelves and did not find it, so I hope she hasn't read it yet. And I also hope she likes it as much as I did. Merry Christmas!
