RELEASE NOTES:
Wow! I had forgotten about this book coming to me. I was wondering what was in the slim package and was surprised when I opened it. Thanks a million - will read and release soon!
What a lovely book! THis was my final read for February 2005 and I'm glad I snuck it in under the wire (or during the commercial breaks while watching "24", that is!)
I enjoyed DiCamillo's Because of Winn-Dixie and this one as well. I notice a common theme between the two books - set in the south, loner child, animals, but the stories are different. This is a great story about learning to set the past free and begin to heal. I look forward to reading more of this author's work.

Caught from the Relayers' Bookbox. This looks lovely. :) Thanks, MarciNYC!
I have to say this was not really my thing. The whole time I was reading it I kept thinking yup, this is exactly the sort of thing adults would get all excited to push on elementary school students (Oh, the symbolism! The emotional progression!), but as a child I would have hated it. I would have come away thinking that the book started bleak, had little story, stayed pretty darn bleak, and nothing good survived. Guess I was more of a Little House and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory kind of kid.
Mailing to morsecode -- happy reading!
This book arrived safe and sound in Buffalo, NY today.
This afternoon I finished one of the books I was reading, but didn't want to start anything too indepth. I noticed this book on my shelf and decided to pick it up. It was short and a quick read. I'm sorry to repor that I didn't like it nearly as much as I thought I would. Despite the book being very well-wrought, I couldn't help wanting a bit more from it, I wanted to "see" Mr. Beauchamp's reaction to the news.
Update, 9 August: This book is going into the Teen VBB.

I'm mailing this book off to appaloosatb, who selected it from the book box, tomorrow.
Mailing to Kel. Enjoy!
This was returned as undeliverable because I'm an idiot and messed up the address by one number. I'll mail it out again on Monday.
I'm sorry, I received this some time ago and forgot to journal.
I have enjoyed all Kate DiCamillo's books that I have read so far, so I expect I'll enjoy this one, too.
I actually found a copy at a UBS before this one arrived (forgetting it was on the way) so I will be sure to find this one a new home.
Thank you!

Finally getting back into reading, but taking it easy and picking light books for now. I picked this up with high hopes; unfortunately, I was let down. I didn't like it very much. I was hoping for more storyline with the tiger. I didn't expect for things to go the way they did.
Ah well. Can't like every book!

Left on a bench outside of the cashier/car pick-up area.
Hello! And thank you for picking up this book!
What you have in your hands is an honest-to-goodness gift, no strings attached. You may keep it forever and ever, pass it on to a friend, or release it in the wild like I did. I know it may seem a little odd to find this lying around - it's my way of touching the lives of others in a positive way, with the hope that it made your day. :)
If you are new to BookCrossing and find this book and this site, welcome! Enjoy the site, the book and hopefully the BookCrossing community. I hope you'll join BookCrossing (doesn't cost anything to join!) and if you do, please consider using any previous reader of this book, or me, EllyMae58, as the member who referred you. Or if you prefer, you can remain anonymous!
If you are an old hand at BookCrossing, thanks for picking up the book! Either way, I hope you'll journal so all the previous and future readers can track this book's journey. Thanks, and happy Crossing!
