The Language of Flowers: A Novel (World Book Night U.S. 2013)

World Book Night U.S. 2013 Edition.
The Victorian language of flowers was used to convey romantic expressions: honeysuckle for devotion, asters for patience, and red roses for love. But for Victoria Jones, it’s been more useful in communicating mistrust and solitude. After a childhood spent in the foster-care system, she is unable to get close to anybody, and her only connection to the world is through flowers and their meanings. Now eighteen and emancipated from the system with nowhere to go, Victoria realizes she has a gift for helping others through the flowers she chooses for them. But an unexpected encounter with a mysterious stranger has her questioning what’s been missing in her life. And when she’s forced to confront a painful secret from her past, she must decide whether it’s worth risking everything for a second chance at happiness.

I've never seen a WBN book, nor clear Bally labels. Thank you for this wishlist book. It's going on the TBR sooner shelf & may become one of the summer book club books, which is why it was on my wishlist. Thank you!
RABCK from hostile17; TLC book club read. Victoria is abandoned at birth, and grew up in foster care. Now at 18, she's aged out of the system, but has no skills to take care of herself. All she understands is flowers - and that's the theme that wraps around her getting a job, finding a boyfriend, building a business and finally understanding herself.
Your rabck book! Enjoy.

I was thrilled to find the book under the Alexander II statue. We were on a Baltic cruise and that day we very nearly missed the ship 's departure as we muddled the time difference!! So I now link the book to that experience - I've never ran so fast! I love flowers and the meanings of them so this was a perfect book for me and the themes and characters were captivating. I have an allotment and intend to go many more flowers this year. I am just so sorry I've taken so long to respond and will leave it out for the next reader this weekend. Thank you
I just found this book at Coral Bay in Paphos next to a palm. I took it on my journey to Glasgow, and started to read it.
