Funny retelling of the KingKong story done with pictures of a cat and little rats. Cute.
omg! too funny! I didn't know whether to laugh or groan as I read the last line :-) so I did both. I knew it was going to be something different when my husband, who took it first and read it, and laughed as he read each page. my husband wants me to add it to our permanent collection but i want to see a lot of comments on this one.
I am starting a book ring for this fun little book and hope to have people add pics of the book in different settings. I had found an add picture link for new journal entry but have now lost it so am going to try something here to see if it works. wish me luck... I will be mailing the book out next week...
I will keep the mailing list updated here and on the original forum...

Received as part of zbird's book ring. Read it right away. (It's true. It only takes about two minutes to read. I'm happy to say that this book will be going from Florida to my home state of Wisconsin and my Bookcrossing friend, ComradCamper. I'll be mailing it tomorrow. This was a cute, quick read. Thank you Zbird!
After representing Florida in this bookring,I'm sending this book to fellow Bookcrosser ComradCamper in Wisconsin.. I hope you enjoy this comical book about Kat Kong, the King Kong of cats who invades the city of mice.
Wow, that was fast! This book arrived in my mailbox today, after zbird and susieq and I discussed it just a few days ago.
I'll read it quick as a wink, and pass it down the road a little.

Very fun little book, with lots of references to pop culture.
Hand delivered to 2manyhobbies because I couldn't seem to remember to put it in an envelope and get over to the post office with it(!)
Thanks for the opportunity to be part of this bookring!

What a fun and fast little book!
They all thought it was the most horrid of horror stories with a very sad ending and would like me to send it on. I've written to minesayn for a mailing address.
Thanks for sharing this book. I enjoyed it even if my three kids didn't. (They said the fate of the Kat gave them nightmares.)

Controlled release; mailed to minesayn on July 15, 2016. Sorry it has taken me so long to send this book along. My car died on July 2nd and I've been housebound ever since, since I can't afford a new transmission. A friend took me to the PO today so it is finally on its way. Enjoy!
Welcome to BookCrossing!

I hope that you enjoy the book. You can make another journal entry with your comments when you are done reading.

Received in the mail today along with a postcard of moose and moose (no squirrel). Read it in about five minutes. Cute puns, cute pictures, which are full of puns, too. Dav Pilkey is a local author so am familiar with the family.
I'm sure my cat Flash would have nightmares if I read it to her so I didn't...however, I found it amusing and felt the TS rating appropriate. Thanks zbird for sharing it with us and will contact the next member in the ring to send on.

I have either registered it, or received it from another person who is willing to share it, too. Consider logging onto www.bookcrossing.com and letting us know where it is been and where it is going next. It can be done anonymously or join the site as a member.e
After no response to a couple PMs, skipped wolfinforest and sent on to the next reader, Jackie700, along with a postcard of local area to her and also another to the ringmaster, zbird, since I don't have a smartphone to post photos. Enjoy the story of Kat Kong.

Cute little book! Nine year old grandson thought it was very silly indeed! Would have loved to post a picture, but don't know how either with smartphone or iPad. Will verify eponine38 address and send Kat on its way!
Sending off to eponine38 As she is next in the ring.
Received and read it right away. I do feel sorry for Kat, but the mice are adorable and the puns are great! Very clever.
The "round robin" of BC labels & stickers is a fun extra. :-) I will take and replace some.
I already have wolfinforest's address so the book will go out on Monday.

Read the book in about three minutes. My husband and I both enjoyed it. It was a really cute and funny book. Well worth the while. Kat is in Pennsylvania now and going to be heading for Arizona in a few days. I have a few grandchildren who wish to read Kat Kong. LOL
Just read Kat Kong and loved it....and I don't even have a cat!!!! Now I know why the Captain Underpants series was so popular 😄. Thank you so much zbird for including me in the Bookring. I was out of town for 3 weeks and had my mail held , so I didn't receive it till yesterday, 9/26. Sorry for "holding up the works" ......I plan to send it out to the next person on the list by 9/29, after Kat Kong figures out where he is going next🙀
Hope you are feeling better Zbird !
Hope you are feeling better Zbird !
Kat Kong arrived safely in rainy humid Mesa from Sedona this morning on the second leg of his tour of Arizona. Looking forward to finding a nice spot to visit with him, and hopefully get a photo before sending him on to visit in Phoenix on the last leg of his journey through our State. http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/20/530237 Thinking of you...and hoping things are going well, zbird & wolfinforest. ; )
UPDATE 10/17/16...OH DEAR!!! After I DID figure out how to post a picture of KAT KONG's rainy day visit into the Journal Entry from the camera I borrowed...ended up being in the backyard under the umbrella with a BC "rain jacket" I provided ; D...I just found that I unintentionally stalled this Bookring when I went to my postal supplies to retrieve two boxes to send 8 loaves of Brown Bread baked (no easy task, and has taken 5 days!) from my Dear recently departed Momma-in-law's incorrect recipe that I'm trying to perfect off to her children in her memory. Looks liked I put KAT KONG's ready to mail envelope (and a few other flat parcels that needed to be sent to fellow BCers!) in the flat stack of boxes I brought home from the Post Office. MY APOLOGIES!!! I've got to be at the VA doctor/hospital tomorrow, and take care of a Jury Duty Medical Excuse for the Veteran I am caretaker for, as well...so I won't be able to get back to the Post Office until Wed 10/19 now. I'll post a release then. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PATIENCE!!!
UPDATE: 10/21/16...With more VA items to take care of than originally planned for, I didn't get to the Post Office Wed, but did about an hour ago...so KAT KONG is OFF!!! : )

I received this book from fellow Arizonan BOOKWORMINUSALL. I will show the picture on the cover to my kitties but I think the bad ending would devastate them.
Thank you, BOOKWORMINUSALL, for mailing it to me.
My darling tabby, Eponine, was tired after a night of prowling around in my backyard and crying loudly because she doesn't like the food that is set out for her. She didn't pay much attention to the book. Not the original tabby cat, but a very fine specimen indeed.
My Eponine a.k.a. Eppie or Epster is a hunter extraordinaire and is well acquainted with little field mice, lizards, birds, moths and even a snake and a rabbit.

My older kitty, Kiki (or keeks, for short) that I adopted a year ago doesn't have much use for books except to use them as pillows when they are left on the bed. She was recently attacked by an unknown wild animal who bit her at the base of her tail, presumably while she was running, so I shall not share the story of this book with her.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
This book has been sent to perryfran of Ogden, Utah who is next on the list.
Kat Kong arrived today in Utah on the Day of the Dead, November 1! Our cat Ellie was a little tentative in inspecting it:
Also included were a selection of Bookcrossing labels and supplies. I'll keep some and pass on the rest. Thanks! I'll contact the next in line and post more when we read the book.
What a fun little story! I've always loved the movie King Kong since I first saw it as a kid back in the 1960s and this was a really cute parody. Our cats however, were not really too impressed. Ellie just wanted to play with the book and our older cat, Fluffy, just wanted to sleep:
I also found on the internet that there is another pretender to the title Kat Kong:
Anyway, thanks for the fun little bookring. I will be continuing Kat Kong's journey today!

Blueberry, Flash, Rabies and Dwayne arrived in Kentucky today! I bought a larger copy of this book at an MSPCA yard sale and released it several years ago. I've missed it ever since and was happy to share it this time with my husband. He even did sound effects for me! :-)
Tabby, on the other hand, was not impressed. Maybe there was a squirrel outside or maybe he's not into remakes. We may never know.
Thanks to zbird for sharing this copy! I will have it moving along to the next person (just a few miles down the road) on Monday.

Arrived last weekend but got stuck with other mail/papers and just got around to journaling. This looks so cute and I should be able to get this out this week.
WHOO HOOOO...zbird is BACKI!!! : ) http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/5/537430 I've PMd the links to the Jouranl Entries here, and her KAT KONG Main Thread, so that she can CATCH UP with all of Kat Kong's travelling fun and GREAT PHOTOS, ALL!!! : )
Very cute! I especially liked the joke about being careful not to let the cat out of the bag. There was lots of visual humor too - liked the poster of the theater production of Hamster of the Opera.
So after a busy holiday, this little book is ready to travel on.

Arrived today! This is hilarious!
I read it to my cats, they didn't approve of the ending. They seem to think Kat Kong should have WON in the end. They have been sleeping closeby ever since. I think we will be sticking to kitten stories for a while!
Sending on to etherea, who is next on the list. Thanks for sharing!

Hi!
Cute book.
I messaged the next person in line a while back, but haven't heard back. Not sure what to do, since it was the thread-owner....
Suggestions welcome!
[edit]
I read the whole thread and see that that person didn't start the book-ring. Send to the next person, then?

Kat Kong--this book--is in great shape, especially considering the travels he's done. I do think Kat is a Tom. I have been a fan for years and also love the companion book DOGZILLA. Dav Pilkey is one of the great Cinderfella success stories of Children's lit. His name is actually Dave but he decided to spell it without the e after the name tag he used to wear while working at McDonalds was misspelled. He made lemons out of lemonade in that situation and assumed a new identity. Unlike this still perky copy of Kat Kong, I am a bit the worse for wear tonight. I am not usually out this late. So I will wait for tomorrow for a breathless re-read. Thanks to everyone for taking such good care of this book and especially to Meekachu07 for being so patient with me.

"Kat Kong, however, was not amused. The towering tomcat hissed and meowed wildly."
I was right Kat Kong is a Tom!
And dear kitties of this bookring don't be traumatized! Though there are two theories in the final pages that "beauty killed the beast" or "curiosity killed the cat," we know that Kat Kong is the "nine-lived wonder of the world." Your human hostages should have explained this to you. Kat Kong will prance again! The moral of the story: don't trip on tuna cans and watch out for beautiful rosies!
For some reason, I can never get my pictures to upload properly for bookcrossing journal entries. So forgive me friends if this shot of Kat Kong makes you dizzy. He is pictured here with two of my Mama's little pretties, she loved white cats. I am enclosing a Georgia edition bookplate, "Every Book Has a Story," my modest tribute to Georgia writer Flannery O'Connor. Her animal was the peacock, "the king of birds."

The friend mentioned in the journal entry is a devoted cat person. So I will find her a copy of Kat Kong. Laughter is the best medicine!
Thanks zbird for starting this ring!

Kat Kong has completed his journey and has returned home for a long deserved rest. Like any traveler he brought souvenirs home with him in the form of bookcrossing aids to release more books and a cute pin with heart with he word cats in it. Oh and he even brought home a friend! Watch for a bookring for Dogzilla!!!!! Coming soon!
