Rot & Ruin (Benny Imura (Rot and Ruin))

This book surprised me - what looks to be a gross-me-out zombie book on the outside is actually a story rife with humanity and compassion - and it still works as an action packed zombie book! Good stuff! My 14 yr old son loved it, too, and promptly went to chapters to buy Dust & Decay (which I have not read yet, but he ate it up in a day).
Product Description
In the zombie-infested, post-apocalyptic America where Benny Imura lives, every teenager must find a job by the time they turn fifteen or get their rations cut in half. Benny doesn't want to apprentice as a zombie hunter with his boring older brother Tom, but he has no choice. He expects a tedious job whacking zoms for cash, but what he gets is a vocation that will teach him what it means to be human.

I am taking this book to the Calgary Bookcrossing meeting at the Joshua Tree Cafe today to find a new reader.
Picked up at the Calgary BookCrossing April meet-up. Mmm... zombies... Zombies good.
Damn you, Minerva101, for introducing me to another great series! I always enjoy books when the world they're set in is richly detailed. This isn't just another zombie apocalypse. This is the aftermath and it's about how people live their lives when the dead can rise up. I liked that the zombies in the book weren't just corspes to be killed. Tom and Benny treat them with respect because zombies were indeed once people, too.
Passing this book on to the next interested BookCrosser.
Grabbed at get together.
Zombies!
I really enjoyed this book. Both the writing style and characterization were done and let me really get into the story. It was a hard book to put down.
Thanks for the fun read!

Picked up at this month's Calgary bookcrossing meetup. Sold on the cover.
Loved this book! I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series, but parts of it really weren't easy to read. Interesting characters, but some weird jumps in logic.
Will be brought back to Calgary Bookcrossing for a new reader.
