Bought it at the State Library of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia today.

In “Laminex and Mirrors”, a young woman working as a cleaner in a hospital helps an elderly patient defy doctor´s orders. In “Cross-Country”, a jilted lover manages to misinterpret her ex´s new life. And in “Ashes”, a son accompanies his mother on a journey to scatter his father´s remains, while lifelong resentment simmer in the background.

I liked the first two stories, but didn´t get further. Short stories are just not my thing. By the time I´m into them, the are over again. :o)

Got it from Ahoernchen, who bought it especially for me, because I was looking for books from Australian authors. Thanks a lot for that and for bringing it over the big, big ocean. You are great! :-)

I`m going to read this book for the 1 Jahr= 1 Land Challenge for Australia.

28.05.13: Even if I'm usually not the short-story type of reader, I loved that book. The storys reveal a lot of the human nature and provoke many different feelings while reading them. I liked the most: "Laminex And Mirrors", "Five Dollar Family", "Cake", "White Spirit" and most of all the last one: "Seventy-Two Derwents".

Hopefully counts for Australia.

Schon vor Ewigkeiten aus der Packstation geholt und völlig verafft es zu lesen und einen Eintrag zu verfassen... Letzteres ist hiermit geschehen und ans Lesen mach ich mich auch gleich morgen ^^
