The book has arrived safe and sound.
I guess I'll learn a lot from it. Although I'm a Yoga instructor, I'm aware of all the scepticism around yoga and natural healing so, I guess I'm going to relax and have a nice laugh with this book.
Thank you.

Life has changed a lot since the moment when I got this book. Although I had practised Yoga for more than 20 years and had even become a Yoga instructor, life wasn't complacent. When I decided to start Transcendental Meditation on a daily basis, my body has cracked. That morning, I woke up with excruciating pain that lasted for 4 months. After a long process, I've found out I had an herniated disc on my neck. So, I began to question all my life, all the choices and paths I have taken. I'm still in this process of trying to understand what was that all about. Meanwhile, I've lost my job.
Tim Parks, like everyone else (or at least most of the people), goes the reverse way: from pain to cure, through meditation. It makes my whole process even more confusing. But I'll be able to understand... eventually :-)
I really liked this book. Although some scientific/medical parts were maybe a bit boring, the author takes us through a very honest approach on his process of healing, confessing his tense, demanding and self-focused personality. I must say that in some episodes I had to identify myself with him, as painful as it may be to admit it.
This is an overall good book, and maybe I will come accross with it again, in some moment of my life.
Thank you so much for sharing. It will go to vekiki now, after a "wish list tag game" (so sorry for the delay - the pain did not allow me to read for quite a while).

thanks for sending this - I heard someone talking about it on a radio programme which I like (Little atoms) and was very intrigued. I am quite scientific in my thinking and so don't tend to 'believe' in alt-med stuff, but my friends sometimes do so I try to be as open-minded as I can be; so a skeptic's approach like this is interesting

Hmmm... Well, I didn't love this. I found Parks to be rather whiney and self indulgent. Hopefully someone else will appreciate it more!
Leaving it along the tow path at some point on my canal boat trip
