Journal Entry 1 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Saturday, November 29, 2003
This will be the journal for the Chick Lit perpetual bookbox. The box will continue to circulate between the following bookcrossers with 3 chicklit novels in it. Each participant may take any or all of the books and replace them with a like number of chick lit books. If a book you put in the box has not been taken after two full rounds you will need to remove it and replace it with another. You may put a book in the box that you originally got from the box, but the same rule will apply to these books as well. The box needs to move quickly so, please get it back out in the mail no more than 7 days from the day you received it and if at all possible sooner. This journal will serve not only as a place to journal what has been taken out of and put into the box but also as a sort of wish list for the participants to put titles that they want to read, so that other participants can include those in the box if they should have them. If at anytime any of the participants has any suggestions on how to make the box work better, please enter them here. I had planned on sending this out geographically but the locations (save two) are all REALLY spread out, so I thought we might vary the shipping order with each round, let me know your thoughts on this. Participants in shipping order for first round: WarEagle78 - AL Pchemphd - FL Vraciousrdr - CA Eriko1908 - MN Booknose - IN

Journal Entry 3 by eriko1908 from Plymouth, Minnesota USA on Sunday, November 30, 2003

I'm making my Chic-Lit wishes known....not that I won't read some that aren't on my wishlist....(you all know how it goes....). So here they are, and I promise to remove books from this journal entry if I've received them: List alphabatized on 1/6/04 Beginner's Luck by Laura Pederson Confessions of an Ex-Girlfriend by Lynda Curnyn Did You Get the Vibe? by Kelly James-Enger Fishbowl by Sarah Mlynowsky Liner Notes by Emily Franklin Loose Screws by Karen Templeton Losing It by Linsay Faith Rech My Life Uncovered by Lynn Isenberg On the Verge by Ariella Papa Slim Chance by Jackie Rose The Between Boyfriend's Book by Cindy Chupack The Great Husband Hunt by Annie Graham The Man I Should Have Married by Pamela Redmond Satran The Solomon Sisters Wise Up by Melissa Senate The Song Reader by Lisa Tucker What Goes Around by Alexandra Carew I apologize in advance if some of these do not meet the req. of "chic-lit". It has been so long since I added them to my other wishlist that I've forgotten what some are about....I just know that all of these have caught my fancy at one time or another! I was wondering about a book....Heart on the Line by Judith Arnold....I'm reading it now....and it really feels like a "Chick-Lit" book to me....but I don't think it is classified as one...the spine of the book classifies it as romance...but I think it should say Contemporary Romance, at the very least....would anybody have a problem with it going into this box once it makes it to me? It has all the elements....cute guy....29 yr. old working girl....over-involved family....curious senior citizens....day-time "Springer-like" TV show....like I said....let me know...I'd like to know if others here agree after they have read it too!! :o)

Journal Entry 4 by WarEagle78 from Hoover, Alabama USA on Monday, December 01, 2003
Hi everyone! Booknose, this is a great idea and I really appreciate being included. As I PM'd booknose earlier tonight, I'm really pretty new to Chick Lit even though I love it. so my wish list is WIDE open, well, almost. If it's not on my bookshelf already, I want to read it! So maybe, instead of a wishlist, I should tell you what I HAVE read (or have in my TBR mountain) to date. As we go on and I really HAVE a CL wishlist, I'll change what's here: CHICK LIT I'VE READ The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing by Melissa Bank ** Bookends: A Novel by Jane Green Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophia Kinsella** Shopaholic Ties the Knot by Sophia Kinsella I Do (But I Don't) by Cara Lockwood I Don't Know How She Does It by Allison Pearson In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner **In house right now, if you want me to drop it in be sure to say so! Eriko1908, I hate that I had Bookends but moved it on a few weeks ago. Blast! I get the feeling that we will know one another pretty well before too many rounds of the box! Happy Holidays, all. And thanks again, booknose!

Journal Entry 5 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Monday, December 01, 2003
Here is my wish list which seems to echo a lot of Erica's choices as well as some others. The Solomon Sisters Wise up by Melissa Senate My Life Uncovered by Lynn Isenberg Dumping Billy by Olivia Goldsmith Guilty Feet by Kelly Harte Straight Talking by Jane Green But, like most of you I will read just about any chick lit I can get my hands on, provided I haven't yet read it. I have only run into one book so far that I just hated and didn't finish and that was Sue Margolis's Neurotica, but don't get me started on that one. LOL I do have Dating without Novacaine in my TBR, maybe I will be done with it in time for the next round. I also have Fishbowl but unfortunately have already promised it out to someone else. Lisa

Journal Entry 10 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Wednesday, December 31, 2003
The box has almost made a full circle now, Vraciousrdr has it now, and will send it on to Erico1908, then back to me. Vraciousrdr has graciously offered to add several more books to the box, so that there will be a larger selection, Thanks! Also, some suggestions have been offered that I think make a lot of sense. When you receive the box, please list the contents in your journal entry & in your PM to the next participant, this way if someone has already read everything that's in the box, they can opt out for the round, this will in no way make you ineligible to receive it in the next round, but will save you postage for sending a bunch of books you have already read, and save time in transit. Other than that the box will still work the same, the same number of books should always remain in the box, unless someone wants to add more than they take, as vraciousrdr has, to increase the selection. If this gets to be too much postage for anyone, please let me know. I have also received a request from another BC'er to be involved in the next round, that would be a total of 6 of us, what do you all think of that, it is someone in FL, which is a state we already have a participant in, so it wouldn't be much more time in the mail. Let me know here or by email what you all think. If anyone else has any suggestions to make the box work, better, faster, more enjoyable etc.. please feel free to offer them here, or you can email me (I know PM's can be a pain) at Lisaofbj@aol.com Thanks & I hope you all are enjoying the box so far.

Journal Entry 11 by vraciousrdr from Vista, California USA on Wednesday, December 31, 2003
The box arrived - I'll be replacing it with another box as it may not make it through the mail. With the new box, I'll be adding a few extra books. Following is the current list of what's in the box: Confessions of a Shopaholic Shopaholic takes on Manhattan High Maintenance Shopaholic ties the knot (figure may as well have the entire series :) Good in Bed and possibly 1 or 2 others depending on how my weekend goes and if I can read them before Monday morning. Postage: with the additional books and new box, it weighs just over almost 4 lbs so it's $2.68 to mail - the old postage rate was $2.28 so only a $0.40 increase for a few extra books, hopefully everyone will feel it's worth it. :) 6th participant: the more the merrier :)

Bookends is on its way to me through a trade!! Yea!! And I'm cool with having a 6th participant too!! Happy New Year to all! & Happy Reading! :o)

I can't take credit for the crossing zone, booknose did -- it's just that all the books she put in have been taken out now! I've been collecting books and can't wait for my turn to come around again! Unfortunately I did not have everyone else's "wish list" with me at Books-a-Million tonight...

Looking forward to being a part of this bookbox! I will make a journal entry later with my wish list or you can just check my bookshelf for a link to my Cliff1976 wish list and my Amazon wish list. Also, if you would like to see what I currently have available either for trade or the book box, go to: http://stage.bookcrossing.com/mybookshelf/kayters and sort by Available.

Journal Entry 16 by WarEagle78 from Hoover, Alabama USA on Tuesday, January 13, 2004
Sounds great to me, Booknose! I think the box will be more interesting with these two added. I've read all three books you mentioned -- but I would expect the titles to turn over almost completely by the time the box reaches me, anyway, and there are others for me to enjoy, so it doesn't matter from here.

|
Journal Entry 19 by WarEagle78 from Hoover, Alabama USA on Sunday, January 18, 2004
Face it, darling sweet eriko1908, there's not that much point in alphabetizing. Your list is beautifully alphabetized by title, but if I'm at the bookstore or library sale hoping to help you out, the books are alpha by author, so it's of no help anyhow... But I applaud your urge for order, nonetheless! {{Hugs}}

Hi! I'm using your wishlists as buying guides at Amazon, etc, but I don't really have a wishlist of my own to add. I'll read just about any chicklit that I haven't already read. I'm pretty new to the genre, so that covers a lot of ground. Frances

Journal Entry 29 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Friday, April 02, 2004
Hi gal's It looks like the Chick Lit Perpetual box has gotten hung up with Pchemphd (I am hoping she did receive it) but she isn't responding to Pm's. I am sure that there is some legitimate reason and don't think that she plans to keep the box, as she has an excellent reputation with bookcrosser's in trading and bookboxing. However, since I have at least 6 CL books ready to go, and I know alot of us are anxious to get on with it, I am going to go ahead and send out a new box. When Pchemphd is able to send the old box on, she can send it to me, and I will keep whats in it or trade them or whatever. Please remember to make a journal entry here when you receive the box and get it back out within 7 days, PM the person after you when with the contents to make sure they want it. If you think you will be unable to get it back out in the alotted time do to financial or other constraints please pass on it, this will not exclude you from further involvement. Here is the proposed new shipping order I am mixing it up a bit this time to avoid monotony. I've left Pchemphd out this round, until I hear from her. Any problems or questions feel free to PM or email me Lisaofbj@aol.com Midwestgal Eriko1908 Wareagle78 Kayters Vraciousrdr Booknose Here are the books: Millies Fling by Jill Mansell Girl's Poker Night by Jill A. Davis A Promising Man by Elizabeth Young Lucy's Laundrette by Betsy Burke A Clean Slate by Laura Caldwell Getting Over It by Anna Maxted I plan to send this out on Monday, if there are no problems with the order. Journal Entry 36 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Saturday, May 15, 2004
Well the box is back home with me and I will be sending it back out on Monday and the order will be: Vraciousrdr Eriko1908 WarEagle78 Midwestgal Kayters unless I hear differently from anyone. I discussed this with WarEagle78 but I thought I would mention it to everyone, if you all happen to have books that you know other people on this box would want, either mentioned here or by checking thier wishlist, then please let me know, and I can adjust the shipping order, it is not set in stone, sending it to vraciousrdr first is the only definite that I have on this round. In fact checking wishlists might be a good idea and if you don't have one, making one would be good (Cliff1976 has a site for BC wishlists if there is anyone who isn't aware of it) Just because it seems that we are recycling the same books and if people know what you are looking for, then they can adjust thier reading/buying trading accordingly. Otherwise I fear that this box may run it's course rather quickly and I would hate to see that happen. And again any suggestions to making this box work better are encouraged. I have a list of a couple of other Bookcrossers who might be interested in participating, if you all think we need to add some fresh blood at anytime, I have told them all at this point that we are not taking any new people. Okay with that said, here are the new contents of the box. Must Love Dogs by Claire Cook Running in Heels by Anna Maxted Otherwise Engaged by Suzanne Finnamore Futon Fever by Dawn Anderson Burning the Map by Laura Caldwell Giving Up on Ordinary by Isla Dewar

Journal Entry 37 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Saturday, May 15, 2004
Hi Guys! After talking to some of you, I want to take a little poll. What would you think of uping the number of participants to say 10? Or what number do you think, considering that each person gets to keep it a week? With new participants what do you think about uping the number of books in the box? I was thinking the same number of books as there are participants. As far as new participants go, I belong to a Yahoo Group, called Bookbox, all the members have to be approved by other members to be accepted, so I feel safe that the box wouldn't get lost, I was thinking about getting a few new members there, of course all the same rules would apply to the box and I would only accept Bookcrossing members. Please PM me or journal here and let me know what you think, I won't take any action at all until I have heard from you guys.
