The Piano Tuner

Just Starting this one.
Well written, unusual book. Took me a while to get into. On its way to Scism in a trade!
I received this in the mail from EDDI today, as part of a trade (I sent The French Mathematician in return). It looks like an enchanting book, and has been added to my TBR pile. However, I may lend it out to a BookCrosser friend to read first, since I'm starting to become overwhelmed with TBRs at the moment!
I started reading this about 2 weeks ago, and am really enjoying it. I'm so busy at the moment, that the only chance I get to read is just before I go to sleep at night, so I tend to only read a few pages before I nod off! So it's going very slowly, but the book seems to lend itself well to that.
I've stopped reading this one for the moment (I'm being very erratic in my reading habits right now!). It was moving too slowly, primarily because I wasn't reading very big chunks at each sitting. I plan to come back to it when I have more time to read at a leisurely pace.

Interesting idea, interesting characters, disappointing ending. I enjoyed the evocation of the colonial fascination with Asia (mostly while trampling all over the people and culture), and I liked the concept of someone being sent at great expense to tune a piano in a highly inappropriate location, but the story of the one man who understands the locals being done down by the unthinking masses is far from original.
I'll see if Fleebo wants to read this, if not I'll release it at the ZanziBar mini-meet tonight.
