Description from the publisher's Web site:
"Violet's TV-director dad has traded a job in Vancouver for one in Los Angeles, their run-down house for a sleek ranch-style home complete with a pool, and, worst of all, Violet's mother for a trophy wife, a blonde actress named Jennica. Violet's younger sister reacts by bed-wetting, and her mother ping-pongs from one loser to another, searching for love. As for Violet, she gets angry in ways that are by turns infuriating, shocking, and hilarious.
When her mother takes up with the unfortunately named Dudley Wiener, Violet and her friend Phoebe decide that they need to take control. If Violet's mom can't pick a decent man herself, they will help her snag George Clooney."

Susin Nielsen's first book, Word Nerd, is among my favourite YA books, and I enjoyed this one almost as much. I love Nielsen's quirky, memorable characters and the hilarious situations they find themselves in.
I've reserved this book for the Cross-Canada Bookbox.

I could not pass this one up - I loved Word Nerd and am looking forward to reading this :)
This was such a fun book to read! It covers the difficult topic of divorce and how kids handle it, but the humor was so wonderful. And a nice small cameo by my favorite character from Word Nerd, Ambrose. This book was compulsively readable. Susin Nielsen knocks it out of the park everytime!

I am taking this awesome book to the Calgary Bookcrossing meeting at Cravings to find a new reader.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Caught this book at the September meet up at Cravings. I loved Word Nerd, so am sure I will like this one!
Perfect book to pick up when I am struggling with one that is a tough topic. I loved the way she was portrayed, warts and all. The growing up issues, split family issues, friendship issues - all made it a great read! Thanks mathgirl40!
Bringing it to the April meet up of the Calgary BookCrossing group.
Picked up at the April meeting.
Taking to the May "Journeys" meeting, which it fits very well! Another great book by Susin Nielsen, author of Word Nerd with a lovely cameo of those main characters too in this book!

Totally loved this book, just as I did "The Word Nerd". Thank you so much for sharing. Now it's time to get it moving to the next reader!
Taken to the July meet-up of Calgary BookCrossers, held at Cravings Market Restaurant.
I really enjoyed Word Nerd, am looking forward to reading another book by the same author.
Really enjoyed this book and nice to see a small connection to Word Nerd.
Taking this to the October BookCrossing meeting to be enjoyed by the next reader.
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing October meet-up. Loved Word Nerd and I bet this book will be just as good.
I love Susin Nielsen. Her books are so good. The adolescent characters feel like real people with real problems and not just cardboard cutouts. Nothing out of the ordinary happens to Violet, aside from meeting George Clooney, but the book is never boring. And I totally didn't realize that Cosmo here is the same Cosmo from Word Nerd. And Ambrose makes an appearance, too, at the end. That's so cool that there's a little connection between the two books.
Passing on this book to the next reader at the Calgary BookCrossing November meet-up.
Passing this to a book crossing member today
Loved word nerdby the same author so interested in this book with a peculiar title!
Great book! Loved the tie in to word nerd. I will have to go out of my way to find Susan Nielsen books because they are that good! Thanks mathgirl40 for sending to our group!

I devoured this book in an afternoon. Parts of it were so cringe worthy but it's such a sweet story, I loved it. Violet is such a strange and quirky girl. I do think that 8-ball is haunted though.
It took me the longest time to figure out who Cosmo was. Loved the crossover.
I didn't finish this book in time for the latest book shipment to the Calgary Bookcrossing group so it'll have to wait a couple months until I go back home.
