Journal Entry 1 by LilyKlip from Leipzig, Sachsen Germany on Thursday, February 21, 2013
So here comes volume 8 which is my personal favourite. Its setup is basically like in The Canterbury Tales. A group of travelers who come from different places and different times spent a stormy (it's a "reality storm") night in an Inn (at the end of the world) and pass their time by telling each other stories.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

As before: Please keep the books for a maximum of three weeks.

Just put the Sandman from my letter box. Thx a lot to LilyKlip!!

March, 13th, 2013:
Charlene Mooney and Brant Tucker are going by car from Seattle to Chicago, when in the middle of a night of June they get caught in a snowstorm. The car gets out of the road and crashes into a tree. Brant frees the unconscious Charlene and drags her with his last strength back to the road, as he believes. But he has lost his way completely and they ends up in the inn Worlds End. There, it is been taking care of the injured Charlene, while Brant is supplied with food and drink. It seems to be a strange society whom they meet there: people who appear to come from another century, figures that seem to have sprung from an ancient legend, some creatures seem as if they come from a dream and so on. All they sit together and pass the time by telling stories. Brant joins them and listens ...
The six stories are of very different nature: fairy tales, legends, science fiction, adventure, intrigue - and one amazing than the other. Unlike the previous books of and with Sandman, this time he and his siblings only appear marginally - what the quality of the stories, however, not detract. Nevertheless, I have been missing him (so I award an asterisk less ;-))
The drawings are congenial as before and their style perfectly match to the particular story.
I’m already looking forward for the next part.

As expected I enjoyed this volume as much as the previous ones. My favourite part was the one about the Necropolis, I like the look of those living there. ;-) The double page with the sea monster is very nice! The drawings are great as usual. By now I treated myself to the complete Sandman, too, but will definitely stay on the book ring as well.

Thank you very much for sharing!

The Sandman arrived here safely. Thanks for sending SerendipityN! These bookrings always arrive together somehow.. currently reading 2 of them, but will start this one alongside I think. :) Looking forward to read it. Thanks for sharing LilyKlip!

I enjoyed this volume a lot and would have loved to visit the inn at Worlds' End myself and listen to all the different stories. :p
The concept of a story within a story within a story was quite fun, and the drawings were very nice, I especially liked the giant sea serpent on the double page.
Though I wished there was a bit more about Dream and his siblings (I wonder who they were mourning at the end? Did I miss something? :p Maybe it has something to do with the Necropolis story and the secret chamber?).

Ok 1st of all I must apologize to everyone here. I have not been in the best of health and reading this has taken me a lot longer than expected. The good news is that is vol of sandman I really enjoyed. It is really hard to say which Vol I have enjoyed the most so I will not. I really enjoyed the stories in this one and I think the one I like the most was the one about the city. I am trying to place Mr Gadling in the sea story ( I think I know who he is). I am looking forward to the next installment ( when I am feeling up to it).

Journal Entry 18 by winglunaciawing at Sandnes, Rogaland fylke Norway on Wednesday, August 28, 2013
Arrived today! I am currently reading another bookring book, and the perfume smell on this book will hopefully be gone when I'm done with the other book, so that I can start reading it when I'm done. (What a dreadful sentence...)

Journal Entry 19 by winglunaciawing at Sandnes, Rogaland fylke Norway on Saturday, October 19, 2013
Just wanted to let you know that I am currently reading this. It's taking some time, though, as life, esp work, is crazy busy at the moment, so I have limited time to read. I'm about halfway through.

Journal Entry 20 by winglunaciawing at Sandnes, Rogaland fylke Norway on Thursday, October 24, 2013
This has been such a wonderful re-read! I loved the stories within the story and all that jazz.

Thank you for sharing LilyKlip!

I have messaged Appelsiini, and am waiting for her address. :-)

It's here! I have 2 books to read before I can start this one.

Journal Entry 22 by wingAppelsiiniwing at Lempäälä, Pirkanmaa / Birkaland Finland on Tuesday, January 7, 2014
I'm so sorry I have been so quiet about this! I read this as an evening snack and after I had read it, forgot it to the night stand. Anyway, I didn't want to send this out during the X-mas madness, it could have been eaten by the post machines or lost somewhere.

So, I liked the concept of this book, how all stories were told in the inn. I can't pick my favourite, I liked them all. By the way, when I received the book, I didn't see the face in the cover. I only realized it was there when my 2,5 year old daughter said "Mommy, that's scary" (she uses that word quite much, I think she also uses it when something is interesting as she really liked to have a good look at the cover, she didn't want it to be put away). It's funny when something so obvious is "too close", that kind of cover is just so Neil Gaiman :)
