It's Boyle's first novel! A semi-fictional, historical adventure which follows the famous explorer Mungo Park on his expedition into the heart of Africa. It's as grotesque and funny and frightening as any Boyle of course, and I think, in this nasty winter it's best to emulate the migratory birds' example and escape to a warmer place. If only by reading ;)
