There are two of these tiny books that were being sold in bookshops around 2010 (I think) the way sweets are sold in newsagents - in baskets by the counter aimed at impulse shoppers - and no doubt hundreds of them became wedding gifts throughout the year that followed. I was at a wedding where the bride's father relied upon these two books for most of his material and I can honestly say it was the dullest wedding speech I have ever had to endure. There is in fact a whole section of the publishing industry that is devoted to this kind of thing: books designed to raise a chuckle at first glance in order to clinch a quick sale. My hope in registering this one is that it provides plenty of one-off chuckles to people and travels about as far away from me as possible (Alice Springs would be ideal).
