Well, to be honest, I wasn't very impressed by these stories, although this may be a problem of the translation which more than once seemed a little bit strange to me. Most of the stories cover the rural Armenian life in the early 20th century and WWI figures quite prominently, but none of these subjects managed to really touch me. But as Armenian literature isn't easy to find I was happy to get at least this short glimpse.

My English is not very good und so it took about a week to read this 148 pages. After having read four other books from armenian authors this one doesn't impress me much.
Most of these short stories show rural life under poor living conditions in small villages in Armenia at the end of the monarchy around 1917 and later. Unfortunately most of the stories have an unhappy end, people often suffer without any reason.
This book helps to see in Armenien life und gives some nice descriptions of nature. It's not bad, but there is nothing special.
And I agree with Aldawen: Some vocabulary are used very unusal; I'm no specialist, but the translation from Armenian can not be very good.

The book waited in Packstation since Saturday, but I could free it only today.
It has to wait a little bit, because I am reading two other books and essays from my pupils, but soon are the Easterholidays and I think that I can read it then.
Thanks for sending!

Me too wasn't very impressed by these stories and I agree with Aldawen and Kasimar and yes, it is not easy to find Armenian literature, therefore I am thankful to have had this possibility.

For me too, the stories were not really impressing, but a little depressing. I also think, that some problems depend on the translation, as I can not remember needing a dictionary as much as for this little book. But like the others I have to say thanks for the chance to read an armenian book.
