Journal Entry 1 by anathema-device from Wien Bezirk 20 - Brigittenau, Wien Austria on Saturday, January 26, 2013
Got this as a late birthday present from dasaug (but only because my birthday is in December and this book came out in January). Already had a little peek inside, and I think I'm going to enjoy this!
Finished this in no time. The super fun writing style made for very entertaining reading, creating the perfect balance between the rising tension & quite gory murder scenes on the one hand and some really crazy similes and silly dialogues on the other. A bit of a "boys' book" that reminded me of "the old days" when I still played lots of Shadowrun. And it even managed to satisfy that little voice at the back of my mind that kept insisting the story would be so much more fun if there was at least a teeny tiny supernatural element in it. Really liked the ending, even though at some point I feared I somehow wouldn't. Thanks for the birthday present, dasaug. That was some ride. :)
**** Permanent Collection ****
Lent this to a coworker who enjoys thrillers. It's still in my Permanent Collection though, so I'd like to have it back when she's through with it!
My coworker just returned this book and said she'd enjoyed it immensely. She said she had a similar reaction to the film adaptation of RED - first thinking that her husband and son would enjoy it more, then surprising herself by having the greatest time.
In case I'm looking at this entry because I don't know where the book is: it's currently in the middle drawer of my desk at work. ;)
