This was a quick read and mostly a good one. The subject matter is dark: the systematic genocide of Jews who were posing as Christians in Spain in the year 1500.

I enjoy Hoffman's writing and she kept the story moving at a good pace, but something about the writing left me feeling slightly detached from the experiences of the narrator. In some books, I feel as though I come to intimately understand the characters' reality, but that wasn't quite the case here.

Still, this is a book that many readers of a wide range of ages would enjoy, I think.

Thank you, booklady331, for the RABCK!
