I was tempted to order this yaoi manga by the cute dog-eared lad on the cover; will see if it lives up to the initial impression! (I've enjoyed several other yaoi tales featuring "petting-zoo people" of one kind or another; my favorite would be the hunky fox-spirits in Your Love Sickness, but I also enjoyed the cuter, sillier Mr. Tiger and Mr. Wolf.)

Turns out this one's on the cuter/sillier side, though it does have some dramatic and even scary moments. The premise: Susugi, a somewhat moody fellow, runs an inn near an old graveyard, which he also tends as watchman. One night he finds a starving boy and a huge dog in the graveyard and assumes they're about to rob the graves - but it turns out they're brothers, both werewolves, who've been sent out to make their way in the world. The older, Tarou, is in wolf form most of the time, but during the full moon becomes a man with a wolf's head (that'd be the "Anubis form" in the Soulless series), and young Jiro is human most of the time but at the full moon he sprouts wolf-ears and tail.

Of course Jiro falls in love with Susugi, and after helping tend his wounds after another attack on the graveyard, manages to convince him to go all the way; the steamy scenes are both very funny (the tail keeps getting in the way!) and pretty hot. (Big brother Tarou's response to all this? Aw, his first time in heat!)

The three settle in to a routine, more or less, though things still get bumpy now and then. Susugi takes to brushing Tarou's coat, which the wolf enjoys - and which makes Jiro jealous, even though Tarou and Susugi have no interest in each other at all. And then there's Susugi's older brother - who's dead, but who still has some unresolved issues of his own; this leads to a reveal of some very dark incidents in Susugi's past.

Once that's resolved, our heroes face an even scarier threat - the wolf-boys' father! Will the budding relationship survive a visit home?

Later on another new character turns up, causing much jealousy from Jiro - and danger to Susugi, when some evil spirits get involved. And there's a jolly surprise concerning the latest arrival's true identity...

Entertaining mix of story, relationships, humor, and spice!

I traded this book in at Harrison's Comics for credit (with which I bought more manga, of course!); it will appear on their used-manga shelves. Hope the buyer enjoys the book!
