The Feminist Press, 1973
Not sure where I picked this up. The illustrations look promising but I made the mistake of reading the introduction. I know I'm a beneficiary of the feminist movement of the 1970s, but the tone of the intro is too angry and combative for my taste; perhaps another reader will be able to get something out of it.

I found this little book on someone's wishlist...so it is off in search of a new reader!
I know that the book is very ferminist in its approach to the subject, and I totally see the "Militant Feminism" you're talking about, but I've been DYING to see what they had to say about the history of female practicioners ... I've had this on my wish list forever, it seems! Thank you so much for thinking of me when you finished with the book! Will probably get added to my permanent collection when I'm done. Hope you don't mind that. If you want it to travel more, let me know!
Jan 20, 2013: Finished. And, yes, very slanted with a feminist bias, but I enjoyed reading everything the authors had to say and actually could agree with some of their points, seeing how women's roles in the medical fields have changed over the centuries! Thank you, Hyphen8, for sending this along when you saw it on my wishlist!!!
On its way to a lovely young lady who is studying the sociology of medicine. I thought this would add a bit of interest to her course, and maybe she could use it for a paper or something. I'm always excited about sharing in young people's educational experiences.
Happy traveling, book!
