I was hoping to best my 2012 reading goal with one more book, but New Year's Eve is just not for reading alone, so this ends up being the first book I finished in 2013.

This is the perfect book for someone like me, who loves books and food. It talks about meals, big and small, scrumptious and atrocious, as mentioned in our beloved classics. There is Jo's disastrous lunch in Little Women, the chaotic tea party in Alice in Wonderland, the Madeleine cake that sparked Proust's reminiscence, the delicious clam chowder in Moby Dick, the soggy picnic in Three Men in a Boat... Just writing this review makes me hungry! There are quite a few books I haven't heard of, and I am definitely adding to my TBR list.

Fabulous little book with lots of lovely illustrations. I particularly enjoyed Goblin Market and Wind in the Willows. Some meals definitely made my mouth water, whereas others were questionable...

To think it has traveled round the world just like the literary classics. I had not read all of them but knew them and had dabbled in some.
