Amazon Editorial Review
"Roseflower Creek is a compelling, fast-paced narrative that captivates from the first page to the last. It is beautifully written and sensitively told. Don't miss it!"
-Haywood Smith, author of Queen Bee of Mimosa Branch and The Red Hat Club
"The morning I died it rained. Poured down so hard it washed the blood off my face."
It seems everyone in young Lori Jean's life has a secret, but only one secret will cost her everything.
A surprising tribute to our ability to heal and love in the most difficult circumstances. Roseflower Creek will stay with you long past its final page.

No real surprises here. When the book starts with the sentence, "The morning I died it rained," you know it's not going to be a joyful story. Little Lori Jean has a compelling voice and is a sweet and optimistic child, who nevertheless falls victim to a cycle of family violence. The most hopeful thing about the book is the promise of an afterlife, since Lori Jean is telling her story from beyond the grave. And even though her life ends tragically, there are many moments of beauty, friendship, and love in her short years.
Thank you for sharing this one, NancyNova. I'll send it off to mrsjones once I get some money for postage.

Got this in the mail today. Thanks! I'm going to start reading it tonight.
Such a sad story. It kept me reading and shaking my head. I feel like I know families like this that suffer from poverty, alcoholism and abuse. From that regard, the story was very well-told. But the ending was a little heavy-handed and preachy to me about forgiveness (I'm not giving anything away here. We know from the first sentence that she died.) For me, the book ended on a wrong note.
