Great story, beautifully written with a protagonist that is as egotistical and dislikable as they come. As a reader you are rooting for the moment that Beard's world will collapse but he gets away with alomost anything including murder, cheating, fraud, plagiarism and nauseating arrogance, but finally the net closes in around him and he is unmasked. Wonderful read. I especially loved the part about the North Pole expedition. Hilarious!

There were some really good parts in this book (with the lovers and the murder, THE TRAIN TRIP WITH THE CRISPS, Melissa pregnancy...) but I was a bit disappointed by the book. It could be because the main character is not very lovable (even if he is quite funny in his way!)
