Powerful, painful, haunting, thought-provoking. This is the story of Matthew Shepard, told in the words of Laramie, of people who knew him, and people who did not. The syory is horrendous, and complex, and Kaufman and the TTP have brought it to life, and in the process assisted healing, and helped forward the understanding of the LBGT community and the legal need for LBGT rights.

I still remember my shock and horror when I first heard about Shepard's death. Since then I've seen the 2002 film adaptation of the play, as well as an excellent local production of the play itself; the story's always heart-breaking, and reading the text brought the story back to me full-force.

I'm adding this book to the Already Been Crossed bookbox, which will be on its way to its next stop soon. Hope someone enjoys it!
