Journal Entry 1 by FifthElement from Warrensburg, Missouri USA on Wednesday, November 19, 2003
From back:Deadly rivals for centuries, destiny will bring them together. Vampires and werewolves. Sworn enemies for over nine hundred years, they have fought a secret war in the darkest shadows of the mortal world, pitting undead strength and cunning against feral rage and savagery. Now, in the hip Gothic streets of modern-day Budapest, the ancient conflict takes an unexpected new twist. Selene is a Death Dealer, a vampire warrior dedicated to the destruction of the hated lycans. Michael is a werewolf, an innocent American newly infected with the lupine curse. Against all reason and history, they find themselves drawn together even as the grisly inhuman war rushes toward its nightmarish climax. They have no idea of the power their unlikely union can unleash - and of the terrifying secrets that will be revealed in the unearthly realm of Underworld.

Journal Entry 8 by rubyjules from Clifton Park, New York USA on Saturday, February 21, 2004
I just received this today. I am about 2/3 of the way done with the book I'm currently reading, and then I will move on to this one. I'm looking forward to it.

Journal Entry 9 by rubyjules from Clifton Park, New York USA on Sunday, March 7, 2004
I made the mistake of seeing the movie first. I just couldn't get into the book because of that. If you've seen the movie, it may be hard to enjoy this book, because it's like reading the movie, since it's based on the screenplay. I'm sorry that I did that, because otherwise I think I would have truly enjoyed the book.

I got this in the mail today, hoping it won't follow the movie exactly since I have seen it already. But it was an awesome movie, hoping to get to this next week.
Thanks for sharing.

Journal Entry 12 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Sunday, April 4, 2004
This book is too much like the movie, I mean it is basically the screenplay, which I realize it is, but well I just don't like reading the book after seeing the movie. So I am sending this one on. It was an awesome movie though, so anyone who hasn't seen it, make sure you do, but after you read the book.

Journal Entry 13 by Kaija from Solomon, Kansas USA on Friday, April 9, 2004
Came in today.. I'll put the book I was reading on hold and start this tonight.. Then on it goes..

Journal Entry 14 by Kaija from Solomon, Kansas USA on Wednesday, April 21, 2004
I don't know about this one.. I have not watched the movie, so, that wasn't the problem. I think it was just a bit odd. I like the subject of course, but, the characters weren't as vivid as they could have been.. I do like the strange twist they added.. but overall it seems like they put too much in too fast.. it would have been better had they had a novel to work from. I do want to watch the movie now.. but, I'll wait until I can borrow it from someone. So, hopefully it will be off to the next person tomorrow afternoon..

On it's way to mellion108!

Journal Entry 16 by mellion108 from Waterford, Michigan USA on Saturday, May 1, 2004
I got this yesterday. Thanks for sending it my way Kaija, and thanks for sharing it FifthElement!

I'll hold on to this for a couple of days to see if I'm going to have time to read it. I (fortunately) just started a new job, and I have very, very little reading time now. Since I already have 2 bookring books here, I don't want to delay any of the rings/rays and may just send this one on to the next person. :(

Journal Entry 17 by Arwen-Galadriel from Edmonton, Alberta Canada on Thursday, May 13, 2004

Journal Entry 18 by Arwen-Galadriel from Edmonton, Alberta Canada on Wednesday, May 19, 2004
I have to agree with rubyjules on this one. If you have seen the movie don't bother with the book. I loved the movie so I figured that I would like the book as well, but unfortunately not. I will send along to the next person as soon as I get the address.

Journal Entry 19 by arugh48187 from Highland Park, Illinois USA on Tuesday, June 1, 2004
Received this one in my mailbox today. I have a few rings in front of it, but I am a fast reader and will get to it shortly.

Journal Entry 20 by arugh48187 from Highland Park, Illinois USA on Wednesday, July 28, 2004
Wow! Intense! I really liked the book. It is action packed and a page turning riveter. The last 50 pages were mandatory reading and I devoured them at a frenetic pace. Characterization is not overly strong, but the hero and heroine are definitely likable. I just have one question. What about Kraven????

I will be sending this on as soon as I get an address. Thanks for sharing and sorry for keeping it so long.

Released on Monday, August 02, 2004 at Post Office at 153rd and Garrett in Apple Valley, Minnesota Controlled Releases.

I loved the book as much as the movie. Blood Enemy:Underworld Book 2 is coming out in December. I can't wait. FifthElement, thanks so much for including me in this bookring.

It's on its way to First-Noel.

Journal Entry 27 by First-Noel from San Antonio, Texas USA on Friday, December 10, 2004
sorry I didn't get to journal this until now. I've been traveling for work and without a computer at home (mine died). I'll be sending it onto the next person very soon. I didn't get to read it, I finally saw the movie and didn't care for it so I think it's scewing my view. Thanks for the opportunity.

Journal Entry 29 by caligula03 from Hayward, California USA on Sunday, February 20, 2005
I haven't seen the film but there's still not much to like about the book. It's full of lame cliches and silly (without being entertaining) fight scenes.

Safely in Melbourne, but with a number of rings ahead - I'm reading as fast as I can!

Journal Entry 33 by puppymummy from Melbourne CBD, Victoria Australia on Friday, November 18, 2005
Thanks everyone for the opportunity to read this - I am possibly the only person who enjoyed this more than I enjoyed the movie, which I wasn't expecting as it was based on the screenplay. There were some details in the book that didn't come across in the movie for me, I think the author did a great job of fleshing out the screenplay.
Pinkelf has asked to be skipped, so this will be in the mail to 1972Galadriel this week.
