Congratulations on winning the sweepstake!
Happy smileday thanks..I do like Graham Greene indeed and this ticks off the list of his nicely. Kindest regards:)
This is one of Greene's 'entertainment' books, which are supposed to be a little more upbeat and casual. I didn't quite see the difference bewteen this one and say,Our man in Havana, in it's style but perhaps I'm missing something. The tale begins with an unfortunate incident of mistaken identity which quickly gets out of hand with dangerous consequences. This could be the entertainment bit, it's a bit ludicrous in the sense that it's a cake that causes all the problems and could easily be made into an ealing comedy (it probably was). But things take a more sinister turn as the book is divided into parts, which have a more sombre tone and a quite threatening and sinister unfolding of the story. I really did enjoy this, although the breakup into parts was a bit jarring. I do love the covers on these books as well, a timelessness about them. Thanks Huffpuff

Received with thanks!
Enough twists and turns here! Good read, I like Greene's style and near perfect narrative. The characters are great and there is a lot of dark humour.
