Shattered Love: A Memoir
3 journalers for this copy...
I only read a few chapters of this, but my first awareness of Richard Chamberlain was due to Shogun, so I had to read about that. It just wouldn't have been the same with Robert Redford or Sean Connery...
Headed out in replacement box for GoryDetails's shrinking LGBT bookbox.
Sending along to Gorydetails in her LGBT Bookbox!
The box arrived safely today; many thanks! I've enjoyed Chamberlain's work since his early days in the "Dr. Kildare" series (yes, I'm dating myself {grin}), and was pleased to have a chance to read his memoir.
Later: The book feels rather... remote, perhaps because Chamberlain seems to be a fairly private person or perhaps just because of his writing style. He goes into many aspects of his life, from childhood through his TV and film career (including segments on his most successful mini-series -"Centennial", "Shogun", "The Thorn Birds" - with some surprising notes as to how he wound up being cast - and who was on the list ahead of him!), and on his love life as well - he spent over 30 years with his partner Martin. [Sadly, it seems that they've since parted - but they had more time together than a good many marriages do...]

I'm adding this book to the Already Been Crossed bookbox, which will be on its way to its next stop soon. Hope someone enjoys it!
