Found this from my local sh-bookstore already a few years ago and have tried to read it a couple of times, but somehow I can't get it going although I usually like memoirs and biographies. The topic is a bit grim as many of my elderly relatives have suffered from one or other sort of dementia and it is indeed sad to witness an intelligent person's decline. I suspect that it is my destiny one day, too, as there is rather strong hereditary tendency in these things. That much I've learned that memory loss is not a normal aging process, so if you, dear reader, have someone who has started to show signs, tell him / her to see a doctor NOW. Caught early the pace can be slowed down, but the train will only go to one direction...
I noticed that AnneliS had another Bayley's book about Iris on her wishlist, so I thought she might like this as well. Enjoy!

Will surprise AnneliS with this "nearly" wishlist book.
So my my books did not decrease in number! If one book left me I got another instead. Yes, this is really a "nearly" wishlist book. If I had known about the existence of this book, it had been on my wishlist. We have a 94-year-old relative on this road now and it will be interesting to read about Iris. It is a sad story of course both in a book and in the family.
Thank you for this book, Kirjakko!

Well, the book was sad but in a comfortable way. I liked it very much even if in some places I got a little impatient. This book is really more about John himself. Maybe because there is so little of the old Iris left and at the end nothing at all.
This is a good book anyway.
This is my # 2 (120) in

My sister in law likes literary autobiographies and I gave the book to her as nobody wanted to HEP the book on the Forum.
Happy reading!
