The Halloween Tree

Really enjoyed this book. I liked visiting cultures through out history to discover the roots of Halloween traditions today. Great kids book for Halloween. Read this for my book club this month. Sending out as a RABCK.
mailed to my halloween exchange partner and qualifies as a release for the Halloween release challenge
Received today, along with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and a boatload of Halloween goodies. Thanks and Happy Halloween, mdm139!
Taking the opportunity to listen to this one on audio, to celebrate the season. I will save the book for the next round of the First Sentences Virtual Bookbox.
Listening to this on audio was a good way to experience it. Ray Bradbury never disappoints. This was a really interesting look into Halloween traditions around the world. I included it in the last round of the First Sentences Virtual Bookbox and its on its way to Greece and its next reader.
The Halloween Tree was a decent tale, related to Halloween, its potential origins, its meaning in different areas and eras and of course featuring many allegories and trying to be didactic. I think the plot is a bit rushed sometimes and often it gets a bit too cliche and sentimental, but this is a story aimed mainly to children, so one can expect so much... Anyhow I picked this book as a relaxing and a not too demanding choice and I finished it in a few hours. It served its purpose finely.
By the way, the illustations of the specific edition were nice too.
Thanks once again for sharing mdm139 and collectorkerri!

Another great choice in the RABCK parcel. I'm a fan of Ray Bradbury, though never read this one. Though I was a fan of the movie when I was a kid. Thanks again!
