didn't realise until I went to journal this that I hadn't got round to registering it! I'm not a great fan of Ewing's politics although I support the cause of independence - I suspect that there are many matters beyond this that we would disagree on.
Ewing's style is clearly that of an orator rather than a writer, but her book is interesting and the length of time in which she represented Scots constituencies at Westminster, Europe and then latterly in the Scottish Parliament means that she is a living link between the early 20th century - her father was an ILP activist and she knew many of the Red Clydesiders personally - and modern Scottish politics. Her accounts of being a young woman in parliament in 1967 (and of being a woman law student at Glasgow in 1946) were particularly interesting.
I'm planning to use this for a bookcrossing monopoly release next weekend.
