Got his book today with a pile of other books by Robert Jordan in a very generous hand over from a fellow bookcrosser. Looking forward to (re)reading the Wheel of Time books. Big thanks to Qwallath!
With book six of Jordan's giant Wheel of Time fantasy saga, it becomes obvious that one more book is certain and two are probable. This quite excellent volume gives, however, a clearer notion of what the final set of conflicts will be, if not necessarily their resolutions. Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, is teaching men to use magic. He is pursued by three excellent women, captured by and then freed from hostile Aes Sedai, and all the while he tries to be a savior who does not destroy everything in his path. Rand's comrades face similar situations: Egwene al'Vere becomes leader of the dissident Aes Sedai while not yet out of her teens, Mat Cauthon blunders into some high-comedy mistakes in spite of advice from the spirits of a hundred long-dead generals, Nynaeve learns how to restore magical powers, and so on. The number of subplots and characters that Jordan is resolutely carrying forward will both reward longtime readers of the saga and frustrate newcomers. The latter, at least, will also be challenged, perhaps to the outer limits of tolerance, by the multiple shifts in viewpoint.

10.05.2013: Whereas I found parts four and five rather tough and a bit 'all over the place', probably the reason why the first two times I gave up on the series half way through book five, the sixth book of the series surprised me by proving to be an easy read with a naturally flowing story again. This change of style, although it may well be very subjective observation, does make me look forward to the seventh book more than I did with the last two.
The story itself revolves around all the main characters known from the previous volumes and in the end several of the story lines tie in together once again.

My mom, AceofHearts, passed away from breast cancer on September 17, 2013. Aside from being one of the best people I know, she was an avid reader and took immense pleasure in Bookcrossing, her book club, and reading many great books. Unfortunately she didn't get around to reading this book.
We had similar tastes in books and would share them whenever we read something we enjoyed. This book sounds interesting so I'm going to keep it to read.
