Arrow Books paperback 2011, 310 pages. First published in 2010.
I got a bunch of paperbacks from a friend for Bookcrossing purposes. The books included three mysteries by Donna Leon in English. I don’t read in English much - apart from some YA books - so I’m going to release these three right away. It would be nice if this book had a couple of controlled releases before being released into the wild. (But this is just a wish, not a strict rule.)
Takakansiteksti/Synopsis:
"As Venice experiences a debilitating heatwave, Commissario Brunetti escapes the city to spend time with his family. For Ispettore Vianello, however, the weather is the last thing on his mind. It appears his aunt has become obsessed with horoscopes and has been withdrawing large amounts of money from the family business. Not knowing what to do, he consults Brunetti and asks permission to trail her.
Meanwhile, Brunetti receives a visit from a friend who works at the Commune. It seems that discrepancies have been occurring at the Courthouse involving a judge and an usher with a flawless track record. Intrigued, Brunetti asks Signorina Elettra to find out what she can while he's away.
When news reaches Brunetti that the usher from the Courthouse has been viciously murdered, he returns to investigate. But why would someone want a good man dead, and what might his death have to do with the Courthouse discrepancies?"
Finnish:

Thank you for the book, Lii5a!
It is some time since I read about Brunetti's investigations. I used to read them with a map of Venice next to the book. But where is my map? I don't know.
Tämä on 19. Brunetti-kirja (suom. Uskon asia, 2012)

No need to worry about the map of Venice. It is included in the book. Now I read all the Brunetti books I had at home and this was the last one. It seems that I missed the numbers 4, 10,13, 17 and 18. No doubt they will eventually emerge from somewhere.
This time it was August in Venice and I could feel the heat Brunetti and his colleagues were suffering about.
Oh, I found two more Brunettis, 10. and 13., on my bookshelf!
This is my # 20 (120) in

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
To Swiss -the last parcel of my Brunetti-Ray http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/20/491250 !
This continuation of the Donna Leon spiral arrived a few days ago - thanks so much for sending. After an extremely hectic last few weeks of school year/term, I am gradually ticking my way through my To-Do list and reading the rings that have come in recently is part of that list (but unfortunately not the most urgent). Hope to get to these soon. Thanks so much for sending.

As I'm going out of town soon, have to juggle what I read when (ie, what I take with me and send from where I go)... as I have a few Donna Leons to send to the same person, I realized I should get this one read too. This was perfect for a day with a train journey to take care of some administrative things.
As for the book... I enjoy the atmosphere of Brunetti's world and can easily imagine myself in the humid swelter of Venice. I appreciate the characters, but somehow feel this one lacks a bit of substance. An entertaining read which didn't take me very far.

This is now leaving the Swiss Alps for France, with a few others in the spiral. Thanks for making these available. Enjoy!
Like Annelis, I use to follow Brunetti with my map of Venice. :)
Thanks again for the books.
Thanks again for the books.
How I'm glad that I always visited Venice in the spring and with a nice French girl organizing small tours away from the crowded center.
I tagged Millycat with this one.
On its way to UK. Enjoy Venice !

Waiting for me on the mat when I got back from a short holiday - many thanks for sending this, and thanks to everyone on the list for sharing -- I just love it when a book is this well-travelled!
