Others can be added in future...

Note: Order is subject to change based on shipping preferences and others joining the bookray.

How the bookring works:
* Someone will PM you for your address, PM them back and provide your address
* When you receive the book, please make a journal entry letting everyone know that you received it
* Put the book at the top of your TBR pile (under other rings/rays that arrived first)
* Read the book (take your time and enjoy the book, don't feel rushed to finish it but try to get it out to next reader within four weeks)
* When the end is in sight, check the book's journal and PM the next person to get their address
* Finish the book, make another journal entry and let everyone know what you thought of the book
* Send the book to the next person on the list (please use the cheapest shipping method available)
* Make a controlled release using your location as the release place(you the sender)to make the book's travel map consistent. Don't use "posted as bookray" or similar as this will not add to the books map.

Please feel free to PM me at any time with questions

Really enjoyed this - a fascinating insight into a country that I know very little about (along with, I suspect, most Western readers) - beyond George Orwell and Aun San Su Kyi (apologies for my spelling!)

The book mixes travelogue and lifestories - I've pm'd Boekentrol for an address to pass this copy on, but I'm going to buy a new copy for my partner as this is the sort of book she'd love.

Apologies again for losing the original copy!

Just received the book. Thanks a lot for sending! Looking forward to read it.

Certainly a very interesting description. I've travelled in Burma in 2001 and the political situation was still very tense. But as said in the book, the people were extremly friendly and generous. One thing I don't agree with is the hygienic standard described in the book. I found Burma to be a very clean country. I've been there for 4 weeks and stayed in the cheapest hotels and ate street food.

Definately not a favorite.

Will send to azuki asap (also note she said she will be out of town for a week and a half so she might not journal it right away).

Book is waiting for me when I got home. Thanks.
I am a bit behind in my rings. They seem to all arrive together and I don't have much reading time lately, with my travelling and work. Will do my best to get it moving soon.

12/16: more than halfway through the book. Sorry somehow the book is a slow read, and with a lot of things going on I only get to read a few pages here and there.

I think if I were Katrin, I would have divorced the author ten times through the journey. LOL. The book is part travelogue, with a lot of background information about Burma thrown in, and some poetic license in the life stories of the Burmese they have met. Written with much sensitivity and sympathy, it delves much deeper into the visited country than most travelogues.
Kiwi doesn't want the book back. I will reserve it for the travelog bookbox.

This book came home in my travel narrative bookbox. It was a book that I haven't heard of before, so I will be adding it to my tbr pile. Love books like this one that have already done some traveling!

I finally found the time to read this book. Feel bad for hanging onto it for so long. I'm working on moving some of these older books along.

I found this book to be very interesting. I liked that it was part travel narrative and part a real good look at what life is like for the people they meet in their travels. Glad I got the chance to read this one. Will be moving it along soon!
