I found this fair-condition hardcover, with distinctive illustrations by Barry Moser, at the Used Book Superstore. I'd recently enjoyed an unabridged audio version of the story, so I was glad to find another release copy, especially in such a handsome edition.
This is one of those works that affects me very differently now than it did when I first read it, perhaps because I've had a little more experience with situations in which one's worse instincts get the upper hand {rueful grin}. The story is told in a more tangential way than most of the film versions have used - friends taking a walk and passing a certain door, anecdotes about this and that which eventually come together to suggest some very strange goings on, the unusual behavior of a respected doctor, and the whole concept of whether the good and the evil in human nature can be separated...
This edition also has a foreword by Joyce Carol Oates.
[The TV Tropes page for the book may be of interest, but if you haven't read the story yet, beware of spoilers.]

I bought the book at the Bennington, VT, Goodwill store 25 September 2013, and read it again after 25 years. It's a superb novel of dual personalities. An excellent read, 127 years after the book was first published. This is a beautifully published book from the University of Nebraska Press. On 13 October 2013 I returned it to the Bennington Goodwill store.
