It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.Atonement

I've got so many books to read, I know I won't get the time to read it! Hope others enjoy it though.

Received from Jacinta2000 in a trade. Thank you and I look forward to reading it as soon as possible !!
Can it really be over 3 years that this book has been sitting on Mt TBR? I must admit that I picked it up on more than one occasion but wasn't in the right frame of mind for it at the time. However, this time I was drawn into the lives of Briony and Cecilia and felt compelled to read to the end.
I found the earlier part of the book very stilted and dated in style, but I guess that was McEwan's idea; to evoke the lifestyle and morals of 1930's life in rural England. I was touched by Robbie's experiences in France and very moved by Briony's life in London during 1940. Their descriptions brought to life those terrible times so clearly, and reminded me of Sebastian Faulks' "Birdsong".
Thanks for sharing with me all those years ago jacinta2000 and I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get this book moving again. I will be offering this up as a ring/ray sometime in the near future.

Arrived in the post this morning, thank you.
What a wonderful surprise!
What a wonderful surprise!
This book takes a while to get going, but I found it involving, and ultimately, very sad. I enjoyed the middle section most, set during the war. I'd like to see the film now, to see how it compares to the book.
Thanks again for sending this to me, KathyS!

Received in great condition, thanks! This is going to be a Christmas present for my sister who loved the recent film adaptation.
