A fantastic book! Bookcrossing suggested the category "sports", but it is so much more than a sports book, so I changed it to "nonfiction". Having played and enjoyed baseball for years, I enjoyed this book immensely, but it can be enjoyed just as much by anybody and everybody.
There's a quote on the front of the book, too small in the picture to read, by David Halberstam, that says, "A book deep in the American vein, so deep in fact that it is by no means a sports book".
On the back, another quote, this one from Christopher Lehmann-Haupt of the New York Times, "Ball Four is a people book, not just a baseball book."
I'm sad I finished it.
