I grabbed this book when I found it on the table at the summer meet in London. I love Lisa Jewell, so I couldn't let this book pass, even though I wasn't to take any books back to Norway. Yet again, I failed, being the weak bookcrosser that I am.
This is a story about Melody Browne, who can't remember anything before her 9th birthday. She's now in the 30's, and lives in the centre of London with her 17-year-old son. She left home when she fell pregnant at the age of 15, and hasn't seen her parents since.
At her first date in years, her date takes her to a hypnotist, and is taken up on stage as a volunteer. After being hypnotised, she faints – and when she comes round she starts to remember. At first her memories mean nothing to her but then slowly, day by day, she begins to piece together the real story of her childhood.
I really enjoyed this read, it was a touching story. Now the book is ready to travel on.
