This book was translated from Spanish. The language wasn't as complex as I usually like to see in my literature but the story was good and had a bit of a mythical element in it.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
I enjoyed reading this. I'm going to drop this off in the book bin when I go to get some milk.
I was delighted to find this among the charity-sale books at Hannaford's! [The donations for the books are currently allocated to Marguerite's Place.] I'd read it some time back, and was pleased to find another release copy - and to welcome a new BookCrosser!
I enjoyed the book, though some of the scenes involving the livestock got a little rough - Tia's first try at castrating a rooster, for example. And the oppressive weight of the family traditions was made very, very clear; I certainly empathized with the more rebellious characters!
The language is lovely - even in translation, which makes me suspect that it's stunning in Spanish - and the recipes mouth-watering. I adored the scenes with Gertrude and her bandit. And if you want hot love scenes, well, this is the book for you {wry grin}!
[There's a 1992 film adaptation; I haven't seen it, but it has decent reviews so I might check it out. And there's a TV Tropes page for the book, with some entertaining looks at the elements of the story.]
