Picked up from the Halloween Sweepstakes, kindly organised by Plum Crazy.

I really enjoyed this book. It definitely got me into the vibe for Halloween.

"Morgan, Hunter and other members of their coven go to New York for a few days in search of the Amyranth witches. Hunter, a Seeker for the Council, is looking for Killian, a young witch in danger. It seems that Ciaran, Killian's father, is looking for him and intending to wipe his magic. After many false leads and strange meetings, it becomes clear that Ciaran is actually seaching for Morgan, wanting to take her power. He is not in the end able to do this as he suddenly realises that Morgan is his own child. Morgan is horrified to be the child of someone she considers evil. The book ends as she breaks up with Hunter because she believes she has inherited her father's evil and will damage those close to her."

As a Young Adult book, I felt it was well written and it kept my attention. I liked Morgan, though I felt sorry for her, when she found out who her real father was. I wanted both Hunter and Morgan to be united, as a couple. But the end left you wanting to read on and to find out whether in the future books, whether they do get together. I wasn't keen on her father. The story in finding Maeve's watch, was a bit sad, in trying to place an older lady under her spell.

Will release very soon.

Hoho!

Journal Entry 14 by wingdark-dracowing at Ledbury, Herefordshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, December 27, 2016
Thank you to my lovely Secret Santa.

I received two books, one from my wishlist and this one, which I think could be just my thing. I also received some animal stickers, a Celtic rabbit keyring, a Geochaching trackable, and a Wiccan cat notebook - a very appropriate box of goodies!! Loved it.

Journal Entry 15 by wingdark-dracowing at Ledbury, Herefordshire United Kingdom on Thursday, February 1, 2024
A vaguely enjoyable read - something to keep me entertained for a couple of days. However, the story was largely the same as most other Supernatural/Romance YA books that are doing the rounds. A lot of teenage angst about love and friends and family, followed by a few chapters at the end with some actual action.

I really didn't feel disadvantaged at not reading the previous 6 volumes, as it felt like all the relevant information was provided, but am curious as to how there are 6 other stories that only cover 2 and a half months of Morgan's life! Maybe I will have to track them down.

The most annoying thing about the book was the font used to reproduce the old diary entries - maybe my eyesight is failing in my old age, but I found it really difficult to read! Plus the fact they sort of read like they were set way in the past, just in the way the narrator phrased things, but they obviously weren't.

But overall enjoyable and great for a bit of witchy escapism.
