A novel in the Bordertown Series.
Bordertown sits on the Border between magical elf-land and the mundane world, so it runs on a rag-tag mix of unreliable science and equally unreliable magic. Soho is the abandoned parts of Bordertown populated by the misfits and runaways of both worlds.
Ron comes to Bordertown looking for a new life and his older brother and falls in with the Strange Pupae, a mixed bag of runaways at least (if not more) lost than he is.
Like the rest of the Bordertown series, this focuses heavily on growing up and developing an adult personality and role and while the setting is quite bleak the series is full of hope and the characters are very realistic.
Also, THIS BOOK HAS A SEQUAL, its called NeverNever and the two really should be read together. This book ends in such a way that it can totally be read alone, but having both really completes the experience.
SPOILERS AHOY!
These books lean heavily on names as a metaphor for personal development which I love. This book, especially, is an inversion of Beauty and the Beast when it comes to inner identity versus outward appearance.

Taken to Christmas in July at the Joshua Tree. Hope you enjoy it guys!
I enjoy reading Terri Windling's blog and know of the Bordertown books so now I have an opportunity to read them. Thanks DendriticTrees.
After reading the short stories in the Bordertown book I decided to read this next. I enjoyed reading the background story of Ron and the other characters of Bordertown.
Took the book to the Calgary BC Meetup at the Joshua Tree Cafe today.
Grabbed at get together
I also read the short stories in "Welcome to Bordertown" first. I enjoyed this story about how Ron became Wolfboy. Though it had a lot more moving parts than I expected. The random mix of characters was well done and fun.
Thanks for a great read!

Picked up at February's meeting. We had 11 BookCrossers attend and WAY too many books! This is being added to my TBR pile but will likely be there awhile as I came home with triple the number of books I brought.
