Received! Thank you very much, bookstogive!
Very enjoyable! I loved the lyrical language and the atmospheric setting. Kingsolver has crafted interesting characters and she weaves a tapestry of three intertwining stories all set in Appalachia. The natural world is woven throughout as well. I enjoyed discovering how the three stories were linked together. This was a satisfying read and was my first Kingsolver book. I now want to read more of her work!
Reserving for the General Literature VBB.
Description from Amazon:
"Barbara Kingsolver's fifth novel is a hymn to wildness that celebrates the prodigal spirit of human nature, and of nature itself. It weaves together three stories of human love within a larger tapestry of lives amid the mountains and farms of southern Appalachia. Over the course of one humid summer, this novel's intriguing protagonists face disparate predicaments but find connections to one another and to the flora and fauna with which they necessarily share a place."
