When the Time Traveller courageously stepped out of his machine for the first time, he found himself in the year 802,700--and everything has changed. In another, more utopian age, creatures seemed to dwell together in perfect harmony. The Time Traveller thought he could study these marvelous beings--unearth their secret and then retum to his own time--until he discovered that his invention, his only avenue of escape, had been stolen.

It was a nice story to read.
My problem with books like these is, that I have a hard time imagining what is being described. When I read, it is like together with the words, a movie is playing in my mind. And when my mind can't graps what is described, the movie won't play.

The concept is easy enough: person builds time machine, uses it, gets to a point in time that is FAR ahead, meets creatures good and bad, loses time machine and eventually gets home again.
And that's about it. I have no idea what those Morlocks Eloi look like. How to imagine what the Palace of Green Porcelain looks like. The words that describe the creatures or places are there, but they do not give me the means to put together the jig saw puzzle.

I think, for this book it might be a good idea to give the movie a try too.

A very short book which I read in a day. I'd probably have read it faster if I had liked the book more. The reason I didn't like The Time Machine that much is probably because science fiction just isn't one of my favorite genres and it's hard for me to find scifi that excites me (but I keep trying!). I liked the ending though.
