This audio book was given to me by friends who live in Scotland, they have a vast collection of audio cds for long journeys down to the south of England. Happily for me they also have a never read/listen to a book twice policy; so I've been given a bagfull of audio books. Hurrah!

I love books where time is mixed up and nonlinear in the usual sense; particularly like this fantastic story which starts from the end and finishes at the beginning. The characters were all sympathetic and you end up caring about all of them, trying to guess why and when their stories will converge. The narrator of the audio book (CDs), Juanita McMahon, read superbly using a range of voices for the characters.

I really enjoyed this audio. It was a bit of slow starter but got me hooked. All the characters were likable and you cared about what was happening to them.

It took me a long time to get through, playing each disk over to make sure I hadn't missed anything. A number of different characters to keep up with but I managed to. I enjoyed this and have read a number of Sarah Water's novels too.
