A justly famous novel. It is not solely about World War I. Author Dalton Trumbo looks at that war through the filter of the Depression, and the war's economic and political aftermath in Europe. American readers in the 1970s interpreted the book through their experience of the Vietnam War. In the same way, new readers can relate the imaginative story of one man to their own circumstances.

Still a pretty good re-read, in after 25 years.

i had a had time getting in to this book. but i was happy to find it in a geocash. but it has been in my possion for far to long. time to move... north?
