Update, April 2013: No, I didn't like it as much as "H.M.S. Surprise". It was too much tactical stuff for my taste and even with a sea chart in hand I couldn't follow all the moves of the too squadrons in the waters of La Reunion and Mauritius. But I'd like to read more of Jack Aubrey being a Commodore!

I'm looking forward to reading the next volume...

The book will travel on as soon as the coast is clear in Switzerland.

Nachtrag, im April 2013: Nein, ich habe es nicht ganz so begeistert verschlungen wie "H.M.S. Surprise". Dafür war es zu viel Taktik und selbst mit der Seekarte in der Hand bin ich manchem Schlag der verfeindeten Flotten an den Küsten von La Reunion und Mauritius nicht mehr hinterhergekommen. Aber Jack Aubrey als Commodore – davon gerne bitte mehr!

Ich freue mich schon auf den nächsten Band...

Das Buch wird weiterreisen, sobald die nächste Station grünes Licht gibt!

This joins the crowd of rings which have organized some sort of meet-up here (I wasn't told, they just starting arriving)... I'll try to get to this as soon as possible - I did manage to send three rings away today! Thanks so much for making these available and sending.

There's quite a gap between book 3 and 4 - we go from Sophie going to meet Aubrey to hopefully marry in book 3 to twins... Read this while journeying back to Switzerland from Atlanta, and find I am appreciating these books more and more.

The Swiss anchor has now been weighed (I may have the nautical terms wrong here) and the squadron is moving north back to German waters, after a transatlantic detour which provided many reading hours. Thanks for sending and thanks for sharing these books.

Well, this book was not as entertaining as the books before. Too much war and nearly no women ... poor Sophie, now she is married and Patrick O'Brian didn't have a nice idea what to do with her anymore ;-)....and...uhhhh Jack Aubrey doesn't like having daughters. Now I'm keen on finding out whether the female characters will have a come back in the next story.
